Today we’re introducing Bethany Fray, owner of Flower & Fig and the newest member of The Her Initiative Team. Bethany is passionate about bringing people together and empowering women through beauty and truth. Here’s a little more about her from our conversation below.
1. We’re so excited to have you as part of The Her Initiative Team. Tell us a little about your role.
I’m honored and excited to partner with The Her Initiative to develop Parties for Her and the Her Ambassador Program. I’ll be working with several amazing ladies to dream up ways we can empower women here to empower women there through gathering.
2. You haven’t always been an entrepreneur. What jobs have you had in the past?
My degree was in Early Childhood Education, so I taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade right out of college. When my husband and I moved to Colorado in 2013, I started to feel the entrepreneur itch, so naturally I got a job at a tech start up. If you have ever been part of a start up environment, you know that people wear many hats and switch roles at least once. I started as the company event planner, then was Executive Assistant to the CEO, then worked on the creative side of the company as a content producer. I refer to my years in the tech start up world as my Master’s in Business, because they gave me the experience I needed to start my own business in April of last year.
3. Tell us a little about the heart and vision behind Flower & Fig.
Hospitality has long been a passion of mine, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I was able to connect the table and the soul. Beauty, in its many forms, brings us out of survival mode into a mindset of thriving and finding peace in what is good and true. We were created to be drawn to beautiful things. Our original dwelling place was a perfect garden… how amazing does that sound! I long to see women healed and empowered through gathering, so I create resources to help them do just that.
4. What’s something you’re obsessed with right now?
My letter board from Letterfolk! I’m a word nerd, so I love putting quotes, scripture and ridiculous sayings up in my house. Letter boards are like the adult equivalent of the flannelgraph. You can make them tell any story you want. And if you need a laugh, follow @letterfolkco on Instagram. They post wonderfully funny quotes. I promise this isn’t a sponsored post, I am just truly obsessed.
5. And lastly, give us a sneak peak of what’s to come for Party for Her.
We’re currently in the dreaming and brainstorming phase for 2017! So I can’t reveal all our secrets, but I can tell you a few things. We’ll continue partnering with some amazing brands to host more live events. We’re adding some new themed Party for Her templates. Think Happy Hours, Yoga Brunches and we’re gonna include the guys this time with some Men for Her Party templates. We’re also giving the Party for Her Host Box a facelift with goods from a few small businesses we love. To learn more about how you can partner, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
